Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in technology, UX research, software engineering, data, finance, education, tourism, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Work culture values reliability, preparation, teamwork, and respect for hierarchy, although global companies are often more flexible and English-friendly. Japan provides excellent public transport, safety, healthcare, food, and urban convenience, while housing in Tokyo can be expensive. Smaller cities and rural areas offer a quieter lifestyle and lower costs. Non-Japanese citizens normally need an appropriate work visa, usually sponsored by an employer; highly skilled professionals may qualify for a points-based visa with faster permanent-residency options. Before relocating, arrange a residence card, local address registration, health insurance, pension enrollment, banking, and tax procedures. Learning basic Japanese makes daily life and workplace communication easier. Expect distinct seasons, crowded commuting in major cities, and a gradual adjustment to local customs and administration.
