Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, well-connected island city with opportunities in engineering, aerospace, defence, technology, finance, healthcare, logistics, manufacturing, and regional headquarters. English is widely used at work, while Malay, Mandarin, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, orderly, efficient, and relatively formal in professional settings, with strong emphasis on punctuality and performance. Lifestyle options include excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, parks, beaches, and an active expatriate community. Housing can be expensive, particularly in central areas, although public transport makes commuting from suburban districts practical. Foreign professionals normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass or S Pass, subject to eligibility, salary, and regulatory requirements. New arrivals should budget for rent, healthcare, transport, deposits, and initial relocation costs, and check current immigration rules before accepting an offer.
