Destination Guide

Japan offers opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, retail and international business, especially in Osaka, Tokyo, Kyoto and resort areas. Hospitality employers value Japanese language ability, service awareness, reliability and cultural sensitivity. Daily life is safe, organized and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, seasonal festivals and a mix of modern city life and traditional communities. Osaka is generally more relaxed and affordable than Tokyo, although housing and commuting costs still require planning. Foreign nationals normally need an appropriate work visa, such as an Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services visa, supported by an eligible employer; requirements depend on duties, education and experience. Applicants should confirm sponsorship, salary, accommodation, health insurance, pension and relocation assistance before accepting an offer. Learning business Japanese and understanding workplace etiquette will significantly improve integration. A residence card, local registration and a Japanese bank account are usually needed after arrival.
