Destination Guide

Langkawi is a Malaysian archipelago in the Andaman Sea, known for beaches, rainforests, waterfalls, island-hopping, mangroves, and a relaxed resort lifestyle. Hospitality is the main employment sector, with opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tours, wellness, marine activities, events, sales, and guest services. Local culture blends Malay traditions with Chinese, Indian, and international influences; modest dress and respectful behavior are appreciated outside resort areas. Life is quieter than in Kuala Lumpur, though transport is more limited and a car or motorbike is useful. Langkawi is a duty-free destination, but living costs vary by area and season. Foreign employees normally need a Malaysian employment pass or appropriate work authorization arranged by the employer before working. Candidates should confirm sponsorship, medical requirements, accommodation, flights, tax treatment, and dependent arrangements in the contract. Malaysia’s tropical climate is warm and humid year-round, with heavier rain during the monsoon season.
