Destination Guide

Maldives offers hospitality opportunities in resorts, hotels, restaurants, marine activities, wellness, engineering, finance and guest services, with experienced international candidates often recruited for management and specialist roles. Maldivian culture is welcoming and strongly influenced by Islam, so modest dress and respectful behavior are important outside resort areas; alcohol is generally limited to licensed resorts. Life on a private island is peaceful and scenic but remote, with limited shopping, nightlife and everyday services. Staff accommodation, meals, uniforms, transport and internet are commonly provided, although standards vary by employer. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and valid employment approval; working on a tourist visa is not permitted. Employers usually coordinate medical checks, entry arrangements and permits, but candidates should verify all costs and documentation before travelling. Malé provides greater access to healthcare, banking and supplies, while resort islands may require boat or seaplane transfers. Weather is tropical year-round, with wetter monsoon periods.
