Destination Guide

Malaysia is not limited to one island: major hospitality opportunities are concentrated on the peninsula in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Langkawi, and Johor, while Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo also offer resort and hotel roles. The culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal and island communities, with generally affordable food and transport outside central Kuala Lumpur. Foreign employees usually need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, with approval and eligibility handled by the company and Malaysian authorities before starting work. Relocating candidates should budget for housing deposits, health insurance, transport, and document processing. Petaling Jaya provides convenient access to Kuala Lumpur, shopping, restaurants, airports, and major business districts.
