Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Abu Dhabi and Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, retail, aviation and events. The culture combines Islamic traditions, hospitality and a highly international population; modest dress and respect for local customs are appreciated. Lifestyle can be modern and fast-paced, with beaches, malls, desert activities and strong public services, although summers are extremely hot. Employers normally sponsor a work visa, residency permit, medical examination and Emirates ID for eligible overseas hires. Confirm whether accommodation, transport, meals, insurance and flights are included before accepting an offer. New arrivals should budget for deposits, personal expenses and possible recruitment-related costs, and should never pay an employer for a visa.
