Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Java, Bali, Lombok, Sumatra, Sulawesi and the wider archipelago. Jakarta, on Java, is the country’s main business centre and provides the broadest range of hotel, restaurant, events and management jobs, although traffic and urban living costs can be demanding. Bali offers a more tourism-focused lifestyle, with strong international networks but seasonal employment and higher rents in popular areas. Lombok and other islands provide resort opportunities and a slower pace of life. Indonesian workplaces value respect, teamwork, modesty and relationship-building; Bahasa Indonesia is useful, while English is important in international hotels. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored work permit and appropriate limited-stay visa, and must not work on a tourist visa. Relocation planning should include accommodation, insurance, vaccinations, banking and local registration.
