Destination Guide

New Zealand consists mainly of the North Island and South Island, with Queenstown on the South Island. Hospitality, tourism, healthcare, construction, agriculture, technology and skilled trades provide common employment opportunities, especially in tourist centres such as Queenstown, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Rotorua. New Zealand culture is friendly, informal and strongly connected to outdoor activities, Māori heritage and work-life balance. Queenstown offers skiing, hiking, lake activities and a lively international community, although housing and living costs can be high. Overseas workers normally need an appropriate visa, such as an Accredited Employer Work Visa, Working Holiday Visa or residence pathway, depending on nationality, age, qualifications and the employer’s accreditation. Applicants should check current requirements with Immigration New Zealand and arrange accommodation, tax registration, banking and healthcare cover before relocating.
