The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai offering extensive opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, retail, events, finance and technology. The culture blends Emirati traditions with a highly international population; modest dress and respect for Islamic customs are expected, particularly during Ramadan. Dubai’s lifestyle is modern and active, with beaches, shopping, restaurants, desert activities and a large expatriate community, although housing and schooling can be expensive. Most foreign employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, usually arranged after receiving an employment offer. The employer commonly manages medical testing, Emirates ID and work-permit procedures. Contracts may include accommodation or an allowance, transport, insurance, annual leave and flights, but benefits vary. Candidates should verify salary, service charge, housing, probation, gratuity and visa terms before relocating.
