Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong hospitality opportunities in Manila, Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, Davao and other resort destinations. Chefs can find work in international hotels, restaurants, cruise-related businesses, bakeries and catering companies, with better opportunities for candidates holding culinary qualifications and hotel experience. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented and welcoming, while English is widely used in workplaces. Island living offers beaches, diving, outdoor activities and a relaxed social atmosphere, although transport, internet access and living costs vary considerably by location. Manila and Cebu provide more urban services; resort islands may offer staff housing but fewer conveniences. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and a relevant work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa. Secure the job and sponsorship before arrival, and confirm accommodation, medical cover and contract terms.
