Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, aviation, finance, technology, healthcare and logistics. Hotel roles are available in luxury properties, business hotels, resorts and conference venues, although competition is high and employers usually prefer relevant experience and good English. The culture is multicultural, orderly and safety-conscious, with Chinese, Malay, Indian and international influences. Public transport is excellent, and everyday life is convenient, clean and relatively expensive, especially for housing. Popular areas include Orchard Road, Marina Bay, Sentosa and the East Coast. Foreign employees generally need an employer-sponsored work pass: managers commonly use an Employment Pass or, depending on qualifications and salary, an S Pass. The employer normally submits the application through Singapore's Ministry of Manpower. Candidates should secure a written offer, confirm accommodation and benefits, prepare authenticated qualifications where requested, and budget for rent, deposits, transport and healthcare before relocating.
