Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotels, resorts, tourism, food and beverage, sales, wellness and corporate services. Popular island destinations include Langkawi, Penang, Redang, Perhentian, Tioman and Pangkor, while Kuala Lumpur remains the main centre for corporate and regional roles. Life on the islands is generally relaxed, warm and outdoors-oriented, with beaches, diving, local food and strong community traditions. Malaysian culture is multicultural, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, and English is widely used in business and tourism. Costs are usually lower than in major Western cities, although island accommodation and transport can be seasonal and more expensive. Foreign professionals normally need employer sponsorship for an Employment Pass before starting work; requirements depend on salary, qualifications, nationality and the sponsoring company. Candidates should confirm current immigration rules, healthcare coverage, housing and relocation support directly with the employer.
