Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, highly connected city with major opportunities in hotels, restaurants, tourism, finance, retail, aviation, and professional services. Its culture combines Cantonese traditions, international influences, festivals, efficient public transport, and a fast-paced working style. Lifestyle options range from dense urban neighbourhoods and excellent dining to beaches, hiking trails, islands, and country parks. Housing is expensive, so many newcomers share accommodation or live farther from Central and use the MTR. Most overseas employees need an employment visa sponsored by their employer and must obtain approval before starting work; dependants may qualify for related visas. Employers commonly expect a valid passport, qualifications or experience, medical documentation where required, and a clean background. English is widely used in hotels, while Cantonese and Mandarin improve employability and daily integration.
