Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a luxury hospitality group originating in Hong Kong, operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe and other international markets. The company is recognised for its Asian-inspired service philosophy, comfortable properties, high-quality dining and focus on personalised guest experiences. Shangri-La employs colleagues across hotel operations, culinary services, wellness, events and corporate functions. In Indonesia, its properties serve both international travellers and domestic guests, combining resort or city-hotel facilities with local culture and destination experiences. An Executive Chef can expect a structured international environment, demanding food-quality standards and collaboration with senior hotel leadership. Depending on the property, the role may involve multiple restaurants, large banqueting operations, themed events and responsibility for developing local culinary talent.

Destination Guide

Indonesia offers hospitality opportunities across Bali, Java, Lombok, Batam and other resort islands, particularly in luxury hotels, restaurants, wellness resorts and tourism developments. Bali is the most established international market, with a relaxed lifestyle, strong expatriate communities and a vibrant food scene, although housing and traffic can be challenging. Lombok and smaller islands offer a quieter setting and growing resort employment. Indonesian culture places value on politeness, community, family and religious diversity; local customs should be respected. Foreign employees generally require employer sponsorship and an appropriate work permit and stay visa, commonly arranged by the hiring company before employment begins. Relocation packages may include accommodation, flights, insurance and meals, but this must be confirmed in the offer. Costs vary considerably by island, and learning basic Bahasa Indonesia is highly beneficial for daily life and team communication.
