Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other resort areas, particularly in hotels, food and beverage, tourism, events and wellness. Langkawi and parts of Sabah provide an island-resort lifestyle, while Kuala Lumpur offers a busier urban environment, better transport and broader career options. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in hotels, although Malay is the national language. Living costs vary, with resort islands often more expensive for imported goods and accommodation. Foreign hires generally need an employment pass sponsored by the employer, and should not begin work before approval. Employers normally guide the application, medical checks and documentation. Candidates should confirm housing, insurance, tax treatment, flights and contract terms before relocating. Malaysia has warm weather year-round, with monsoon conditions varying by coast.
