Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hotels, restaurants, catering, tourism, retail, finance, technology, and healthcare. Its multicultural society blends Chinese, Malay, Indian, and international influences, reflected in its food, festivals, languages, and everyday life. The city offers excellent public transport, reliable services, modern shopping areas, and a safe environment, although housing and daily expenses can be high. Hospitality employees commonly work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Foreign candidates normally need an employer-sponsored work pass, such as an Employment Pass, S Pass, or Work Permit, depending on qualifications, salary, and current eligibility rules. Employers generally manage the application process, but approval is not guaranteed. Before relocating, candidates should confirm accommodation, medical coverage, contract conditions, transport access, and work-pass requirements with Shangri-La.
