Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, finance, retail, technology, communications and international business. It is a diverse, highly connected city with a blend of Cantonese traditions, international influences, busy urban districts and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Lifestyle is convenient but fast-paced, with excellent public transport, extensive dining and a relatively high cost of housing. Foreign professionals generally need an appropriate work visa, commonly arranged through employer sponsorship under the General Employment Policy; approval depends on qualifications, experience, salary and the availability of a genuine position. Employers often assist with visa paperwork, relocation and sometimes housing allowances. Before moving, candidates should budget carefully for rent, deposits, insurance and daily expenses, and check current immigration requirements with Hong Kong authorities.
