Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in banking, technology, manufacturing, consulting, healthcare, education, and international business, particularly in Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka. Workplaces often value punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect for hierarchy, and careful communication, although global firms may have more international cultures. Lifestyle options range from fast-paced city living to quieter coastal and rural communities, with excellent public transport, healthcare, safety, food, and cultural attractions. For employment, most foreign professionals need a work visa sponsored by an employer; finance roles commonly use the Engineer/Specialist in Humanities/International Services category, while highly qualified professionals may qualify for a points-based visa. Applicants should prepare a valid passport, degree documents, employment history, and sometimes Japanese-language evidence. Housing deposits and relocation costs can be substantial, so employer support is valuable. Learning basic Japanese, understanding local etiquette, and arranging tax, insurance, banking, and residence registration early will make relocation smoother.
