Destination Guide

Japan offers strong opportunities in banking, asset management, technology, engineering, healthcare, education, tourism, and international business, especially in Tokyo, Osaka, and other major cities. Workplace culture values punctuality, preparation, teamwork, respect, and careful attention to detail. Professional environments can be formal, although international firms often use more flexible and diverse working styles. Japan provides excellent public transport, safety, healthcare, restaurants, and cultural activities, but Tokyo housing and daily expenses can be high. Foreign professionals usually need a work visa sponsored by an employer; finance roles may qualify under professional or highly skilled worker categories. A valid passport, employment offer, relevant qualifications, and supporting documents are normally required. Learning Japanese is not always essential in global firms, but it greatly improves daily life and career prospects. Relocating employees should plan for housing, registration, banking, health insurance, taxes, and adapting to local customs.
