Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, fund administration, accounting, asset management, technology, professional services and regional headquarters roles. The culture is fast-paced, international and professionally competitive, with Cantonese, English and Mandarin commonly used. Lifestyle options range from dense urban districts and excellent public transport to beaches, hiking trails and quieter areas on Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories. Housing is expensive, although efficient transport makes commuting from areas such as Kowloon or the New Territories practical. Eligible professionals normally need an employment visa sponsored by an employer, with qualifications, experience and a confirmed offer assessed by immigration authorities. Relocating employees should budget for rent deposits, healthcare, schooling if relevant and daily expenses. Hong Kong provides extensive restaurants, shopping, cultural events and outdoor activities, but working hours in finance can be demanding.
