Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, asset management, fintech, technology, professional services, logistics and international trade. Although often described as an island city, it includes Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories, connected by efficient rail, ferry and road networks. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international influences; English is widely used in business, while Cantonese is valuable for daily life. The lifestyle is energetic, safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking and beaches. Housing is expensive, especially near Central and popular expatriate districts, so many professionals choose areas such as Quarry Bay, Kowloon or the New Territories. Foreign professionals generally require an employment visa sponsored by their employer, usually under the General Employment Policy, with proof of qualifications and a suitable job offer. Relocation normally involves arranging housing, healthcare, banking and tax registration.
