Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a dense, energetic international hub made up of Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with excellent links to mainland China and the rest of Asia. Opportunities are strong in banking, payments, fintech, technology, professional services, logistics, and regional headquarters functions. The culture blends Cantonese traditions with international business practices; English is widely used professionally, while Cantonese and Mandarin are valuable for many client-facing roles. Lifestyle options range from high-rise city living, restaurants, and nightlife to beaches, hiking trails, islands, and country parks. Housing is convenient but expensive, so many professionals choose areas such as Mid-Levels, Kennedy Town, Kowloon, or the New Territories according to budget and commute. Foreign professionals generally require employer sponsorship under Hong Kong’s General Employment Policy, supported by relevant qualifications, experience, and a confirmed job offer. Dependants may usually accompany approved employees. Before relocating, candidates should confirm visa, tax, healthcare, schooling, and housing arrangements.
