Destination Guide

Hong Kong offers strong opportunities in banking, securities services, asset management, fintech, professional services, technology and multinational corporate functions. The culture is international and fast-paced, combining Cantonese traditions, global business practices and diverse communities. Life includes excellent public transport, efficient services, dense urban neighborhoods, extensive dining and shopping, and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, while areas such as Kowloon, the New Territories and Lantau may offer more space. Foreign professionals generally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer; applications typically require a confirmed job, relevant qualifications and proof that the role cannot readily be filled locally. Dependants may usually accompany approved visa holders, subject to immigration rules. New arrivals should arrange housing, medical coverage, banking and tax advice, and confirm employer support for relocation and visa administration.
