Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest hospitality and corporate job markets. Opportunities are strong in luxury hotels, tourism, aviation, retail, finance, technology and events. Life is modern, international and convenience-focused, with excellent restaurants, beaches, shopping, entertainment and desert activities. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a diverse expatriate community; modest dress and respect for local customs are appreciated. Dubai is energetic and highly connected, while Abu Dhabi is generally quieter and more spacious. Most expatriate employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes health insurance, flights or accommodation allowances. Candidates should confirm package details, probation terms and sponsorship before relocating. Living costs, particularly rent and schooling, can be high, so housing and transport benefits are important to evaluate.
