Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, Johor and other resort areas. Langkawi, Penang and Sabah’s islands provide a relaxed lifestyle, beaches, diving, food markets and strong tourism employment, while Kuala Lumpur offers more urban career options. Malaysian culture is diverse, combining Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous traditions, with English commonly used in hotels. Living costs vary: resort islands can be seasonal and relatively expensive, while mainland cities offer broader housing and transport choices. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and should not begin work until approval is granted. Employers often assist with immigration, accommodation or relocation, but this must be confirmed in the offer. Check current requirements with Malaysian immigration authorities before moving.
