Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city with a strong hospitality, finance, retail, technology, and aviation economy. Hotels, restaurants, cruise operations, events, and tourism businesses regularly offer opportunities for experienced and entry-level workers. The culture combines Cantonese traditions with global influences; politeness, efficiency, punctuality, and respect for hierarchy are valued at work. Life is fast-paced, with excellent public transport, diverse food, shopping, hiking, beaches, and lively neighborhoods, although housing can be expensive and space is limited. Foreign workers generally need an employer-sponsored employment visa before starting work. Applicants usually provide qualifications, experience, a valid passport, and proof that the role cannot easily be filled locally. New arrivals should budget for rent, deposits, transport, and daily expenses, and confirm accommodation, benefits, working hours, and visa arrangements directly with the employer.
