Hotels, restaurants, cruise operations, travel companies and event businesses regularly recruit sales, front office, culinary, engineering and guest-services professionals. The culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences, with English widely used in business and tourism. Lifestyle varies from fast-paced urban living to relaxed coastal or island communities; costs are generally moderate, though central Kuala Lumpur and popular resorts can be expensive.
