Company Info

Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is a Hong Kong-founded luxury hospitality group operating hotels, resorts and residences across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international markets. The company is known for refined service, Asian hospitality values and premium accommodation, dining, wellness and event experiences. Its Hong Kong properties include prominent luxury hotels serving business travellers, leisure guests, families and major events. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on service excellence, professional development, teamwork and guest satisfaction. Culinary employees work in structured hotel kitchens where food quality, presentation, hygiene and consistency are central priorities. Depending on the property, staff may receive benefits such as meals, uniforms, medical coverage, training, discounts and service charge. Working for the group can provide valuable international hotel experience and opportunities to progress into senior culinary or pastry positions.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact international city and coastal territory rather than a single resort island, combining dense urban districts with beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Hospitality opportunities are strong in luxury hotels, restaurants, bakeries, catering, events and tourism, although competition is high and working hours can be demanding. The culture blends Cantonese traditions, international influences, efficient city living and a strong food scene. Rent is expensive, but public transport is excellent and staff accommodation or meals may be available through an employer. Foreign workers generally need an approved employment visa sponsored by a Hong Kong company before starting work; the employer normally demonstrates that the role is genuine and that the applicant has suitable qualifications and experience. Candidates should prepare certified documents, medical or background checks if requested, sufficient savings for the move and suitable accommodation. English is widely used in hotels, while Cantonese is advantageous.
