Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied opportunities in hotel finance, accounting, shared services, tourism, retail, and multinational companies, particularly in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Johor, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and other resort areas. Its culture combines Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with English widely used in business. Lifestyle ranges from busy urban living to relaxed coastal and island communities; food is diverse, and living costs are generally moderate, though Kuala Lumpur and popular resorts can be more expensive. Foreign employees normally require an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company, and approval depends on the role, salary, qualifications, and current immigration rules. Employers usually guide the application and onboarding process. Relocating staff should arrange authenticated qualifications, medical checks if required, suitable accommodation, local banking, transport, and insurance before arrival.
