Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly developed island city-state with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, events, finance, technology, healthcare, and logistics. English is widely used in business, while Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages. The culture is multicultural, efficient, and generally respectful, with excellent public transport, reliable services, diverse food, shopping, and safe neighbourhoods. Rent and daily expenses can be high, especially in central areas, so employer-provided accommodation or housing allowances are valuable. Foreign professionals usually require an employment pass or S Pass, and the employer normally submits the application. Approval depends on qualifications, salary, experience, and government criteria. New arrivals should arrange a local bank account, mobile service, insurance, and suitable housing. Singapore’s tropical climate is hot and humid year-round, with frequent rain, so lightweight clothing and practical commuting plans are recommended.
