Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, retail and business services, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu and other coastal destinations. Langkawi, Penang and parts of Sabah are popular island or island-linked locations, with a relaxed lifestyle, tropical climate, beaches and strong tourism economies. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences; English is widely used in hospitality, alongside Malay. Living costs vary, with resort islands generally more expensive than smaller mainland cities. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by the hiring company, and should not begin work until approval is granted. Employers usually explain documentation, medical checks and relocation arrangements. Candidates should confirm accommodation, service charge, insurance, transport and visa sponsorship in the written offer.
