Company Info

Shangri-La is a luxury hospitality group founded in Hong Kong and known for its hotels, resorts and distinctive Asian-inspired service culture. The group operates properties across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and other international destinations under the Shangri-La, Kerry, JEN and Traders brands. Its hotels typically provide accommodation, restaurants, meeting facilities, wellness services and experiences for business and leisure travellers. Shangri-La places strong emphasis on genuine hospitality, personalised guest care, teamwork and employee development. In Hong Kong, the company has a long-established presence and is associated with premium city hotels serving international visitors, local guests and corporate clients. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment with structured hotel procedures, service training and opportunities to move between departments or properties as their experience develops.

Destination Guide

Hong Kong is a compact, energetic destination with strong opportunities in hospitality, tourism, retail, finance, technology and professional services. Hotel employees can enjoy an international workplace, excellent public transport, diverse restaurants, lively neighbourhoods and easy access to beaches, hiking trails and outlying islands. Cantonese is the main local language, while English is widely used in hotels and business; Mandarin is also valuable. The lifestyle is fast-paced and urban, with relatively high housing costs, so shared accommodation or living outside the central districts may be practical. Foreign nationals normally need an employment visa sponsored by their employer, and the role must meet immigration requirements regarding qualifications, salary and local labour-market conditions. New arrivals should arrange accommodation, a Hong Kong bank account, insurance and local registration promptly. Hong Kong is not technically an island overall, but Hong Kong Island is one of its main urban areas.
