Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, technology, education, and business opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Johor. Although often called an island destination, Malaysia is a diverse country with a mainland and many attractive islands. Its culture blends Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences, with excellent food and generally welcoming communities. Lifestyle costs are moderate compared with many global cities, while island areas provide beaches, diving, and a slower pace of life. Foreign employees normally need an employment pass sponsored by their employer; approval depends on the role, salary, qualifications, and immigration rules. Before relocating, arrange an employment contract, visa sponsorship, accommodation, medical cover, tax registration, and a local bank account. English is widely used in hotels and business, while Malay is the national language.
