The group is known for personalised Asian hospitality, high service standards and properties ranging from city hotels to beach and island resorts. In Malaysia, Shangri-La operates well-established hotels and resorts, including properties in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu and other destinations. Employees generally work in a multicultural environment with structured operating procedures, professional development opportunities and strong emphasis on guest satisfaction. A procurement role supports the hotel’s daily operations by ensuring reliable supply, competitive pricing, quality standards and responsible purchasing. Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities on islands and coastal destinations such as Penang, Langkawi, Tioman, Redang, Pangkor and parts of Sabah. Resorts commonly recruit in procurement, food and beverage, kitchens, housekeeping, front office, engineering, spa and guest services. The culture is multicultural and generally welcoming, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and Indigenous influences, while English is widely used in hotels. Island life is slower and more outdoors-focused, with beaches, diving, hiking and warm tropical weather, although transport, shopping and healthcare can be more limited than in major cities. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company usually manages approval with Malaysian authorities before work begins. Candidates should confirm accommodation, meals, transport, medical cover, contract length and relocation costs. Malaysia’s main airports provide connections to most resort destinations, but ferry or domestic flights may be required for smaller islands.
