Destination Guide

Malaysia offers varied hospitality opportunities in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah and Sarawak. Langkawi is ideal for resort, tourism, sales and guest-service roles, while Penang combines heritage culture, beaches, excellent food and a lively expatriate community. Island life is generally relaxed, but housing and transport can be more limited than in major cities. Malaysia is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and international influences; English is widely used in hotels, although Malay is valuable for daily life. Foreign employees normally need an approved employment pass sponsored by the employer and should not begin work on a tourist entry. The company typically handles or supports the application, subject to immigration approval. Relocating candidates should budget for deposits, insurance, transport and possible accommodation costs. Popular islands include Langkawi, Penang, Tioman and Perhentian, each offering different balances of tourism, amenities and seasonal employment.
