Destination Guide

Singapore is a compact, highly connected island city with opportunities in banking, compliance, technology, healthcare, logistics, education, and professional services. The culture is multicultural, with English widely used alongside Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Life is generally safe and convenient, supported by efficient public transport, modern healthcare, extensive shopping, and diverse food options. Housing can be expensive, especially in central districts, so newcomers often compare locations such as the Central Region, East, and North-East before signing a lease. Employment Pass or S Pass eligibility depends on the job, salary, qualifications, and employer sponsorship; the company normally submits the application to the Ministry of Manpower. A valid work pass is required before starting employment. New arrivals should budget for rent, transport, insurance, deposits, and everyday expenses, and check current immigration requirements before relocating.
