Destination Guide

Taiwan offers strong opportunities in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, technology, manufacturing, finance, and healthcare. Taipei and New Taipei have the largest concentration of multinational-company and commercial roles, while Hsinchu is a major technology and science hub. Taiwanese culture values respect, relationship-building, reliability, and teamwork; English is common in international workplaces, but Mandarin improves daily communication and career prospects. Lifestyle is convenient, with excellent public transport, affordable food, extensive healthcare, night markets, mountains, beaches, and hot springs. Foreign professionals generally need an employer-sponsored work permit and a residence visa or Alien Resident Certificate; highly skilled applicants may qualify for the Employment Gold Card. New hires should confirm tax, health-insurance, housing, schooling, and relocation support with the employer. Taiwan is generally safe, though summers are hot and typhoons can affect travel.
