Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island, but it offers coastal city living, beaches and a highly international work environment. Hospitality is a major employer, with opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, tourism, events, aviation and retail, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture blends Emirati traditions with expatriate communities; modest dress, respect for local customs and awareness of Islamic holidays are important. Lifestyle options range from beach and desert activities to dining, shopping and cultural attractions, although accommodation and transport can be expensive. Most overseas employees require employer-sponsored residence and work visas, with the company typically arranging entry approval, medical testing, Emirates ID and labor documentation. Employers may also provide accommodation or an allowance, health insurance and transport. Before relocating, confirm the contract, benefits, probation terms and visa sponsorship, and budget for initial housing and living expenses.
