Destination Guide

Japan offers employment opportunities in hotels, tourism, restaurants, retail, technology, education, and international business. Tokyo and nearby Chiba provide the widest range of jobs, while Osaka, Kyoto, Okinawa, and Hokkaido are also popular tourism destinations. Japanese workplaces value punctuality, teamwork, politeness, accuracy, and respect for seniority. Life is generally safe and convenient, with excellent public transport, though housing and commuting costs can be high around Tokyo. Foreign workers normally need a suitable work visa sponsored by an employer; requirements depend on the role, qualifications, and nationality. A degree or relevant professional experience may be required for office-based positions. Applicants should prepare Japanese and English résumés, verify contract conditions, and budget for deposits, transport, insurance, and initial living expenses. Learning everyday Japanese greatly improves workplace communication and relocation. Japan is a group of islands rather than a single island, with varied climates and lifestyles across its regions.
