Destination Guide

The Cayman Islands offer employment opportunities mainly in tourism, hotels, restaurants, finance, retail, healthcare, construction, marine services, and professional businesses. The culture is welcoming and internationally minded, combining Caymanian traditions with influences from many expatriate communities. Life is relaxed and outdoors-oriented, with warm weather, beaches, diving, boating, and a generally safe environment. Living costs are high, particularly for accommodation, groceries, transportation, and imported goods, so applicants should review the full compensation package carefully. Most overseas employees require an employer-sponsored work permit, and employers must usually demonstrate that the position is not readily available to a suitably qualified Caymanian. Approval is not automatic, and permits are tied to the sponsoring employer and job. Candidates should confirm permit support, accommodation assistance, health insurance, relocation costs, and contract terms before accepting an offer. Grand Cayman has the broadest employment market and services.
