Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, tourism, retail, marketing and corporate opportunities, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Penang, Langkawi, Johor and Sabah. Setia Alam is a suburban, modern area with shopping centres, restaurants, schools and road connections to Kuala Lumpur, although commuting can be easier with a car or ride-hailing service. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences; English is widely used in business, while Bahasa Malaysia is the national language. The lifestyle is generally affordable compared with major Western cities, with excellent food, tropical weather and diverse beaches and islands nearby. Foreign employees normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass, and the company must meet immigration requirements before work begins. Candidates should confirm visa sponsorship, medical checks, taxes, accommodation and relocation assistance directly with the employer. Malaysia’s heat, humidity and monsoon seasons should also be considered when relocating.
