Destination Guide

Malaysia offers hospitality, accounting, tourism, retail, technology, healthcare, and energy-related job opportunities. Bintulu, on the island of Borneo, is an industrial and port town with a relaxed lifestyle, lower living costs than Kuala Lumpur, and access to beaches, nature, local markets, and national parks. Malaysian culture is multicultural, with Malay, Chinese, Indian, and Indigenous influences; English is commonly used in hotels and business settings, while Malay is the national language. Employees should expect warm weather, diverse food, and a generally family-friendly environment. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Employment Pass or other approved work permit before starting employment. The employer usually manages the application, while candidates provide passports, qualifications, medical documents, and relevant employment records. Relocating to Bintulu requires arranging accommodation, transport, banking, insurance, and adaptation to Sarawak’s local regulations and lifestyle.
