Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is a major destination for hospitality professionals, with strong opportunities in hotels, resorts, restaurants, catering and events, especially in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The culture is multicultural and influenced by Islamic traditions; modest dress, respectful behaviour and awareness of local customs are important. Lifestyle options include beaches, shopping, desert excursions, international dining and a busy social scene, although accommodation and transport costs can be high. Most overseas employees need an employer-sponsored residence visa and work permit. Employers commonly arrange medical testing, Emirates ID processing and sometimes accommodation, meals, transport and flights. Candidates should confirm the written offer, benefits, working hours, probation terms and deductions before relocating. Dubai is well connected and convenient, but summer heat is intense. Family sponsorship may be possible after meeting salary and visa requirements.
