Destination Guide

Qatar is a compact Gulf country rather than an island, known for its modern cities, desert landscapes, beaches, and strong hospitality sector. Job opportunities are concentrated in hotels, restaurants, tourism, events, aviation, construction, healthcare, and retail, especially in Doha and Lusail. The culture combines Islamic traditions with a highly international workforce; modest dress, respect for local customs, and sensitivity during Ramadan are important. Lifestyle is generally comfortable, with modern malls, restaurants, gyms, museums, and outdoor activities, although summers are extremely hot. Employees normally need an employer-sponsored work visa and residence permit, with the company often arranging medical checks and documentation. Confirm accommodation, meals, transport, insurance, leave, and end-of-service benefits before relocating. Qatar has no personal income tax on salaries, but living costs can be high without employer-provided housing.
