Destination Guide

Malaysia offers opportunities in hotels, tourism, procurement, supply chain, finance, technology, and retail, especially in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Langkawi, Sabah, and Sarawak. Although Malaysia is not one island, it includes Peninsular Malaysia and parts of Borneo, with popular island destinations such as Langkawi, Tioman, Perhentian, and the islands around Sabah. The culture is multicultural, blending Malay, Chinese, Indian, Indigenous, and international influences; English is widely used in business, alongside Malay. Lifestyle costs vary, with Kuala Lumpur offering urban convenience and island locations providing a slower, outdoor-oriented setting. Foreign professionals generally need employer-sponsored work authorization, such as an Employment Pass, arranged before starting work. Relocating involves verifying qualifications, securing accommodation, arranging medical coverage, and understanding tax and employment rules. Public transport is strong in major cities, while island travel may depend on ferries or domestic flights.
