Company Info

Marriott International is a global hospitality company operating a broad portfolio of hotels, resorts and branded residences worldwide. Its properties are known for structured service standards, guest-focused experiences and career development opportunities across rooms, food and beverage, culinary, spa and hotel operations. Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa is presented as a Marriott resort opportunity in Malaysia’s Perhentian Islands, combining an international luxury-hospitality environment with a tropical island setting. A pastry chef joining the property would be expected to support high-quality dining outlets, banquets and resort guest experiences while working closely with culinary and hotel leadership. Benefits and employment conditions can vary by property and contract, so candidates should confirm accommodation, meals, transport, medical coverage, service charge and leave entitlements directly with the employer.

Destination Guide

The Perhentian Islands, off Malaysia’s Terengganu coast, are known for turquoise water, coral reefs, beaches and a relaxed seasonal lifestyle. Employment is concentrated in resorts, restaurants, diving centres, housekeeping, culinary operations, maintenance and guest services, with the strongest demand generally before and during the main tourism season. Local culture is Malay and predominantly Muslim, so respectful dress and considerate behaviour are important, particularly away from beaches and resort areas. Life is peaceful but remote: supplies can cost more, transport depends on boats, and medical and shopping facilities are limited compared with Kuala Lumpur. Employees should clarify staff accommodation, meals, internet access, laundry, boat transfers and emergency arrangements before relocating. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Malaysian work permit or Employment Pass, and must not work on a tourist entry. Weather, monsoon closures and island transport schedules should be considered when planning relocation.
