Destination Guide

New Zealand offers hospitality jobs throughout the North and South Islands, especially in Queenstown, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Rotorua and ski or resort towns. Queenstown has strong demand for hotel, restaurant, bar, tourism and seasonal workers, although rent can be high and staff accommodation is limited. New Zealand culture is generally friendly, informal and respectful, with a strong outdoor lifestyle centred on hiking, skiing, beaches, cycling and water sports. Most full-time roles provide 40 hours weekly, while hospitality schedules often include evenings and weekends. International applicants should check whether they qualify for a Working Holiday Visa, Accredited Employer Work Visa or another work pathway before accepting a position. A passport, suitable insurance, proof of funds and health or character checks may be required. Plan for housing, transport and tax registration before arrival; Queenstown’s public transport is useful, but having a car can help with regional travel.
