Destination Guide

The Philippines is an archipelago with strong employment opportunities in hospitality, tourism, business services, technology, healthcare, and retail. Metro Manila, including Makati, offers the broadest range of professional roles, international companies, restaurants, shopping, and nightlife, although traffic and housing costs can be challenging. Filipino culture is warm, family-oriented, English-friendly, and generally welcoming to foreign professionals. Island life varies widely: Luzon is the main business center, while Cebu, Boracay, Palawan, and other destinations are popular for beaches, diving, and a slower lifestyle. Living costs are moderate compared with many global cities, but central Makati rents can be relatively high. Foreign nationals normally need an employer-sponsored Alien Employment Permit and a valid work visa, commonly a 9(g) pre-arranged employee visa. Employers usually assist with applications, documentation, and relocation arrangements.
