Destination Guide

The United Arab Emirates is not an island but a federation of seven emirates, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi offering the largest concentration of hospitality, retail, aviation, tourism and corporate jobs. The country is multicultural, modern and generally welcoming, while local customs emphasize respect, modest public behavior and consideration during Ramadan. Dubai offers beaches, dining, shopping, desert excursions and a busy international lifestyle; housing, transport and schooling can be expensive, so compare the full employment package carefully. Most expatriates need employer-sponsored residence and work authorization, usually arranged after an offer; requirements commonly include passport documents, medical checks and Emirates ID processing. Hotels may provide accommodation, meals, transport, medical insurance, annual leave and return-flight benefits, but this varies by contract. Candidates should verify visa sponsorship, probation terms, working hours, gratuity, accommodation and relocation costs before accepting a position.
